We did so well tackling our own house projects this morning (fixing the master toilet and doing yard work)
That we decided to tackle one of my parent's house projects this afternoon
(Or technically two projects if you count helping finish off their flat screen tv wall mount)
The downstairs powder room in getting a new vanity (sink, drain, faucets, p-trap...you know the deal)
And while Steve is more than experienced to take on such a project, we did hit a very large snag
The location of the existing plumbing coming out of the wall is quite low
And the vanity, sink, and drain sit quite high...
So naturally when installed the new drain pipe does not reach the new p-trap pipe
Sounds like an easy fix, but the p-trap is a 1-1/4" diameter pipe and so is the drain pipe
So the piece we to use to fill the gap between the two needs to fit inside the p-trap pipe
While fitting over the drain pipe...and of course this came to light after 2 previous trips to Home Depot,
And after Steve had already been working for 3 hours
So we called it quits for the evening and took my mom up on the offer of a free dinner
Still bothered by not finishing his task, Steve is currently looking up extension pipes on the internet
And good news everyone (or just mom) He found the piece we need!!!
Looks like you will get a working sink down stairs
