The Goal: to take and post at least one picture each day for the entire year that I'm 27.

I find that I rush through the day, to rush through the week, to get to the weekend...just to find that an entire year goes by in the blink of an eye. So, on the eve of my last day as a 26 year old I decided to make a change. I challenged myself to take the time each day and find at least one moment worth remembering, hoping that in this way I will learn to live each day for what it is. For regardless of how uniform the days may feel at a glace each one is truly unique and worth cherishing.

Day 17 - Late start

Did you ever have "late start" days at school?
A couple times a year our high school had a late start day. School would start a few hours later than usual so teachers and administrators could have meetings. While every kid agreed that these special days were amazing there was a debate as to how best take advantage of the extra morning time.
Option 1: Sleep in!!! (a very popular option and the one I usually picked)
Option 2: Meet friends for breakfast (you still had to get up early...but it was so much fun to do something out of the ordinary)

So this morning when I had an unexpected "late start"...
(I had to run drawings into the city planning office for a plan check and as they are 5 min form my house
and don't open until 8:00 I had an extra hour on my hands)
So option 1 or option 2...
I chose option 2; I got up early like usual and took an extra long walk.

I immediately regretted getting up at 5:00...
(I had very graphic bad dreams all night and woke up scared and exhausted)
But in the end getting up was worth it.
Most mornings I only have time for a 20 min walk...10 min out and 10 min back.
We don't get too far and it does start to get a bit redundant.
But today...today's walk was a full hour and we made it all the way to the park
and had extra time to relax and enjoy the morning.

Love our neighborhood park...love late start days

  1. So pretty! I want that to be my morning walk too! And to be able to have that walk with you would be an extra bonus! Maybe someday. . .
