The Goal: to take and post at least one picture each day for the entire year that I'm 27.

I find that I rush through the day, to rush through the week, to get to the weekend...just to find that an entire year goes by in the blink of an eye. So, on the eve of my last day as a 26 year old I decided to make a change. I challenged myself to take the time each day and find at least one moment worth remembering, hoping that in this way I will learn to live each day for what it is. For regardless of how uniform the days may feel at a glace each one is truly unique and worth cherishing.

Day 174 - You get the picture...

It's a crappy picture...but do you know what it means?
I got home at 6:30 and I actually saw sun light! The mornings at 5am are still blacker than black
But finally I get to see real sky and real sun light even after getting home
I love winter weather, I love it being cold enough to wear layers, I love not sweating...
But I hate living my weekly life in pitch black!
I wake up and it's dark, I drive to work and it's dark, I get off of work and it's dark, I get home and it's dark
But not today friends...I didn't see the sun melt away until I had been home in my own drive way
And I stood there for at least 5 minutes on the phone and it was still there
And best of all...from this point on it will just keep getting brighter and bright, later and later!

Day 173 - Quick, call Nancy Drew

So the mystery of the day...
On Monday at work I ordered 4 samples of quartz countertops for a client presentation next week
I couldn't get a hold of my local rep so I ordered the samples from the nearest dealer
And asked them to ship the samples to my office for Friday at the latest
Today at 4:00 my local rep showed up with the four samples I ask for...so I was pretty happy
Then I got home tonight at 6:00 and there was a package waiting for me...

I didn't remember ordering anything for myself but was pretty excited at the idea of a surprise
Turns out it was 5 more of my quartz samples...sent to my house???
That wasn't right...I never give out my home address - Especially for work stuff!
After staring at the package with disbelief for a while I noticed that it had 2 shipping labels on it
The top label was my name with my home address...but under that was the original shipping label...
My name, the name of my office, and my office address with one small mistake
The address was typed as 2980 instead of 2960...but how did they get my home address???
When the mailman wouldn't find my office how did they find my home???

Is it wrong this baffles and freaks me out a bit?
(Steve thinks I'm crazy and probably gave out our home address and just don't remember it...
Not true Steve!!!)

Day 172 - Feel'n about 50% good about it

So this is the "Feature Wall" at one of my projects - it didn't photograph too well but you get the basic idea

Anyway, the client is happy with it, so I am happy with it
How the client's employees feel about it is a whole other story...

When polled: 19 people didn't care about it, 48 responded positively, and 36 responded negatively
I was present for one lady saying, "the panel with red strings looks like blood splatters"...
And a man that said, "it looks like a Jackson Pollack...but a bad one"

Haha. The truth is, it just made me laugh...you can't please everyone
So I guess pleasing your client and half the people that work for them is pretty good

Day 171 - Forgive my bragging...

Day 170 - Blank Slate

I know you've seen my fridge calender before...but have you ever seen it so clean
Everyone talks about, "A New Year; A New Start"...but this is no blank slate
We don't have a relaxing, non eventful January ahead...no we just finally ran out of marker juice!

You would think a calender overflowing with notes, bills and "to-do"s would be stressful...
And a blank calender would be calming...but I have found it's has the opposite effect!
I freak out every time I see it all empty with none of my stuff written down...
like if it's not written down, I can't control it, I can't conquer it
I look at it and think, "What am I forgetting today?"

I miss my over flowing, messy, crazy slate

Day 169 - Plans and Dreams

We have big plans and even bigger dreams for the exterior of our house and front yard
I am hosting a bridal shower in the beginning of April so we are kicking our 'to-do" list into high gear

So here is the front of our house and yard as it exists today...

Here is our plan for this next month...Add some black shutters and window boxes

And here is the long term dream...faux grass diamond insets in the drive way and grass the yard

Pretty nice dream huh...well maybe one day we'll make it a reality

* Please note I did these pictures really fast so don't judge my photoshop skills on them (I mean you Myk)

Day 168 - Saturday, Bloody Saturday

This post is pretty graphic...so sorry if the images are too macabre...I just had to honor Wes' bravery

My boy Wes is the bravest pup ever
He has had the wind knocked out of him twice while jumping off objects that were over 4 feet tall
He has spent a night in an animal hospital after getting a dehydrating disease
(They had to give him an iv and pump him full of fluids to keep him alive)
He spent a couple weeks not walking after tearing all of the soft pads off his paws on a hot stone patio
He was born with weak back teeth and they split down past his gums...so they were pulled out
And now he is out gap tooth puppy...and can't chew bones any more

And tonight while getting his nails clipped he sneezed and cause a massive cut that bled, and bled, and bled
We tried several home remedies to help the blood clot (like flour)
And even tried to make our own puppy foot bandage (he kicked it off twice)
The boy is so active it's hard to keep him still long enough to get the bleeding to stop
Even while hurt all Wes wanted to do is play with his red ball
But after a few hours of flour, bandaged, and forced sleeping I think we have the bleeding under control
Hopefully this will be the last of Wes' many injuries...because it breaks my heart having him hurt!
