The Goal: to take and post at least one picture each day for the entire year that I'm 27.

I find that I rush through the day, to rush through the week, to get to the weekend...just to find that an entire year goes by in the blink of an eye. So, on the eve of my last day as a 26 year old I decided to make a change. I challenged myself to take the time each day and find at least one moment worth remembering, hoping that in this way I will learn to live each day for what it is. For regardless of how uniform the days may feel at a glace each one is truly unique and worth cherishing.

Day 75 - If you can't say anything nice...

I spent the last 2 days creating presentation boards for one of our corporate design projects
The pallet is very sleek and sophisticated...tones of grays and ivories with touches of yellow and navy
We always strive to give a client a layout and pallet that best fits their taste and style
while functioning to meet all of their work needs - and this design and pallet does just that!

It just so happens that this space is going into an existing building...
A building that has a twin...a twin that we also designed
(And naturally the clients/tenants of the two buildings are rivals)

In the first building we had clients/tenants that were bold with exotic taste
Their space was filled with reds and golds accented in bold black touches
Every one in our offices raved over the finish pallet we created for the project
And us in the design team...well we loved it too

This new building is very different but just as beautiful...or at least I think so
And I say "I" because while working on these boards today I was given a very different opinion of it!
A coworker walked right into the break room (also the work room) and bluntly declared...
"Well that's boring"...now I don't typically share her opinion so I didn't mind too much...
So I replied, "It is a very tone on tone space...lots of gray, but it's pretty"
To which she said, "So boring...it needs red, bold pops of accent colors"
Me: "Oh, yeah...well we are using the bright yellow and navy to accent" (pointing to our pretty paint)
Her: "Well, that mustard yellow isn't going to cut it"
At that point I just shut my mouth, kept my head down and finished the boards

I get that not everyone likes the same things...and my design pride wasn't hurt -
I design these space to fit my client, not myself...
But really - this is going to be a beautiful space - even if you don't like gray or neutrals
I just will never understand how some people can be so opinionated and so forceful with those opinions...
Especially when talking to the person who helped create the object/idea/thing!

The color pallet...just proving that grays and yellow can be bold and beautiful
(red is not the only accent color out there people!!!)

Day 74 - What light through yonder window breaks...

Fall is creeping in...
I am so excited for cool weather and the holidays - I'm not as excited about losing day light.
Every year I forget how rough it is to leave the house in the morning while it is still dark out...
Just to have it get dark again by time I get out of work.
During the dead of winter I seriously don't see the sunlight until the weekend!

But at least it's fun getting to experience the changing light in our house over the next month or two...
I could stare at our dining room chandelier all evening when the light hits it like this

Day 73 - Our rain dance

It rained all day...it was amazing!!!
Our neighborhood lost a few trees...which I hate...but all of the smog has been pushed out of the city
The air is cool and breezy...and it actually feel like fall!!!
And I think I discovered how to make it rain whenever I want...
Steve and I decided to stop watering the grass last Sunday...
(we are "killing" off the summer grass so we can reseed for winter grass by the end of October)
So wouldn't you know it...we got rain Monday morning and now all day today...
I guess winter grass will  have to wait while we enjoy our rainy fall weather!

Day 72 - Somewhere over the rainbow

I can't decided which I like better...
The first picture or the second picture...
This traditional version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" by Judy Garland...
or this more contemporary version by Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole

You be the judge : )

Day 71 - The touch, the feel...

Cotton...what a lovely fabric
It is still hot out...so today when I bought new work pants (I finally gave up on squeezing into my old ones)
I couldn't resist buying this fun little cotton top and skirt (on clearance!!!)
I did laundry, cleaned out my closet, took a nap, played with the dogs, and am about to clean the kitchen
All while looking cute and staying cool - Imagine that!

Day 70 - Hot & Cold

This morning we road the light rail into Tempe for Oktoberfest...it was over 100 degrees out!

Then this evening a dust storm/monsoon rolled in and a chilly rain cooled us down...

I wonder what tomorrow will bring

Day 69 - O-C-T-O-B-E-R!!!

It's October!!!

It still feels like summer out (it's going to be 105 tomorrow) but it is finally October!
And what a month we have...
First up - Oktoberfest tomorrow at Temp Town Lake with our friends Jacque and Corey...
(It actually isn't a lake right now - the dam broke a little over a month ago and the water is gone)
Sunday we are meeting Anne and Jesse for lunch (but not the movie - Steve won't see "Social Network")
The next weekend we are driving out to Newport to see my sister and her new place!!!
The weekend after that is our friend Brett's wedding...I hope the weather is a little cooler by then
because the reception is at the very festive Farm at South Mountain
Then the following weekend Anne and Jesse are coming over to our place for pumpkin carving - yay!

And then the last weekend of the month is a doozy...
Friday I am flying out to Palo Alto for the grand opening of the golf & country club...
an amazing project I have been working for the last 2 years!
Then I fly back to AZ super early Saturday morning so that I can go to my mom's first annual
"Ladies Witch Hat Decorating Party"...I already have most of my supplies and can't wait to put it all together
And finally...Sunday is Halloween!!! Wow I still need a good costume idea...

And somewhere in there I need to start decorating the house for fall (if it's not too hot!!!)

I LOVE OCTOBER!!!
